Chezrenee Cooking Class Our monthly cooking classes are one of Potomac United Methodist Church’s most popular events. A great cross section of church women and friends regularly attend these classes. Even our men attend for cooking tips and especially history and geography highlights each class offers, and who’s kidding – for the delicious food that is served!
We are currently exploring evening couples’ classes and mother/child classes as well.
Classes are currently offered once a month, on Sunday afternoons, from 2-5pm. We rotate in members’ homes, or in the Darvish Hall of our Parish Center. Due to popular demand, reservations are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis. Class sizes depend on member’s kitchens, but are generally around 18 students.
To attend a class and learn more about the next month’s menu, please consult our weekly church bulletin, or contact Renee Antosh at chezrenee22@aol.com, or call (301) 279-8987. Our church office is also available to help you – (301)299-9383.
Conducted and taught by Food Historian and Culinary expert Amy Riolo, each class “visits” a particular country to learn the history, culinary traditions, cultural influences and food preparation of the region. We have traveled to the south of France, Zurich Switzerland, Morroco, and the Amalfi coast of Italy to name a few countries where we have learned how to cook many new dishes which represent these countries’ cultural influence. Amy provides the menus and demonstrates the traditional methods of cooking as well as offering tips on making the dishes easy to make in our modern times and where to buy some of the items and foods for each classic dish.
