Pastor Ann Laprade ![]() On July 1, 2006 we welcomed Dr. Ann Laprade to PUMC as our pastor. Ann was born in Maryland and raised in Linthicum Heights in Anne Arundel County. She earned her B.A. from The University of Maryland, Baltimore County and went on to earn a Masters of Theological Studies from Harvard University. After two years of study and travel in India, she returned to earn her Masters of Divinity from Harvard University, her Doctorate of Ministry from Wesley Seminary and her Masters of Science from Loyola College. Ann comes to PUMC with 25 years of pastoral experience spanning pastorates in Hagerstown, Rockville, Baltimore City, and Baltimore County. Her accomplishments as a pastor have included development and funding of Arts in the Neighborhood, an arts program for children in Baltimore City, a daycare program for children in Hagerstown, an Ecumenical Council in Rockville, Volunteer in Mission teams and courses in comparative religion. She has served in a number of leadership capacities through her years as an Elder in the Baltimore-Washington Conference, including chairing of the Council on Ministries, Council on Human Development and the Psychological Assessment Committee for the Board of Ordained Ministry. She writes periodically for The Connection, teaches at the License to Preach School, founded a liturgical dance group for clergywomen, and serves as a mentor to new clergy. She is married to Thomas McCarthy, an investment advisor with Raymond James Financial Services. They are Godparents to two nephews and a niece and serve God together in a number of ways. Ann enjoys running, yoga, hiking, and kickboxing. |
