INTRODUCTION
Everyone enjoys coffee hour. It's a chance to talk to your friends, meet new (and current!) members and visitors, and catch up on what's going on within the church community. Not to mention the delicious food that is good for the spirit (if not the waistline!). It's up to us, as members of the church, to provide this valuable service. And, it's not as hard as you may think

HOW TO SIGN UP
Just write your name and phone number on the sign-up sheet, located on the bulletin board in the church parlor. Either Janet Airis or Grace Lee will call you to answer
any questions you may have.

You may also call Janet (301-654-2817) and she will
tell you what dates are available.

It's that simple!

  • Set-up

Most of the food should go on the center table. Feel free to put some food on the tables against the walls, this helps with the flow of traffic. The sideboard near the kitchen is used for juice and cookies for the children. Please pour the juice into the plastic cups provided.
TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL COFFEE HOUR
Allow plenty of time - you may want to arrive a little before 10:00 am. It always takes longer than you think to put all the goodies out on plates, make the coffee, pour the juice, etc.

Keep it simple - although you may want to make a favorite recipe you don't have to provide a four course meal. The congregation is grateful for your efforts.

Amount of food - usually you want nine or ten plates (or bowls) of food. From experience we've found that a mix of sweet and savory items make
a popular spread. Some examples are:

  • Sweet - cookies, brownies, coffee cake, muffins, candy, fruit
  • Savory - cheese and crackers, dips with crackers, bread or other, small sandwiches, frozen hor d'ouervres
Don't forget the kids - a plate of cookies on the side-board with the juice is always welcome.

Plan on making/buying items that can be cut up into edible sizes and eaten with our fingers - lots
of napkins are provided, but no plates or forks. RECIPES
